Community Technology Review

Organization: The Community Technology Review (CTR). The CTR was a periodical magazine on the web and in print which chronicled the world of community technology.

Challenge: Enable the CTR staff to independently publish an interactive web-based version of the CTR print publication.

Solution: The CTR uses a modified version of Movable Type (MT), a third-party comment moderation queue plug-in, and a small amount of custom programming. A designer revamped the look of the site, and I exported the articles from a previous database and imported them into MT. The domain name was also moved from one provider to another. Finally, visitors were able to buy back issues of the CTR via PayPal, an e-commerce provider.

Developers: Paul Hansen (designer), Saul Baizman (web programmer, Movable Type administrator, e-commerce implementer).
